Vancouver Running Festival 5K Kick-Off course will be announced soon!

James Cunningham Seawall Race

The Cunningham is the oldest consistently run race in the city of Vancouver. Runners will start on the south side of the Stanley Park Seawall and make their way clockwise around the park as they have done for 46 previous years, with the race finishing on the north side of the Stanley Park Seawall at Devonian Park in Coal Harbour. The event is named in honour of James Cunningham, a master stonemason who directed work on the Seawall project for 32 years. While he did not live to see its completion in 1971, Lions Gate Road Runners named their iconic race to recognize his life’s work. The Vancouver Running Festival is proud to partner and collaborate with this local club, and have runners continue to experience and contribute to the ongoing legacy of this race.

Granville Half Marathon

The Granville showcases a number of heritage neighborhoods and landmarks of this beautiful West coast Canadian city. Vancouver has a strong and rich running community and a number of fantastic events year round. This route provides a bit of everything to local and visiting runners. Some places will be familiar, while others parts might be new. Starting and finishing in the heart of downtown Vancouver runners will be within walking distance to our partner hotels, the festival, parking and major transit hubs. The route runs through historic Gastown and Strathcona neighborhoods before sending runners through Chinatown onto the viaducts and onto the Seawall past Yaletown and the West End and wrapping through Stanley Park and finishing on the Seawall at Devonian Harbour Park in Coal Harbour. The elevation gain and drops are short, and the run has views of the North Shore Mountains and the Burred Inlet, separated by flat stretches along the Pacific Ocean designed to keep you moving, while taking your breath away.
